810 Billiards & Bowling, a bowling, dining and entertainment venue, is coming to The Shops at Dos Lagos in Corona.
It will be a first for the franchise company in California and should open by next spring in one half of the movie theater complex.
The 810 concept, with seven locations in six states, includes bowling lanes, billiard tables, full service bars, an arcade, classic board games and even mini golf.

“The owners of the mall are real visionaries; they only want to bring the best type of businesses into the fold,” said Dos Lagos President Ali Ghassemzadeh. “There are not a lot of entertainment options locally, so increasing availability has been one of the main focuses. They chose 810 Billiards & Bowling specifically because they were looking for businesses that are unique and on the front-line of their industry.”
Ghassemzadeh said 810 Bowling “are always pristine, and there’s something for everyone.”
Adults can enjoy a game of pool while the kids hit the bowling alley, he said. In addition to 810 Bowling, similar concepts reached out, he said, but the selection process was very hands-on, “and we knew that there was just nothing that compared to 810.”
Pet food store opens in Riverside
Anna Marie Valadez, a small business entrepreneur and dog show participant, recently opened a Pet Wants store in Riverside.
Valadez, who with her husband owns Ally Media Solutions and Valadez Tax and Notary, is pivoting to wholesome pet food.
The shop features small batch pet food sold by the pound. Pet Wants also sells myriad treats and accessories for dog and cat owners.
We asked Valadez a few questions about getting her new franchise off the ground:
Q: How long has the shop been in progress?
A: We purchased the franchise in October 2023 and started with community events and online ordering with free local delivery in January 2024. Our soft opening was June 1 with our grand opening scheduled for July 20.
Q: Who is the key demographic for the shop?
A: Pet parents who live or work in Riverside and surrounding cities. We make it convenient here in downtown Riverside for local residents and workers to shop in store or online.
Q: Any advice for other wannabe entrepreneurs who want to do the same?
A: I would say find something you’re passionate about and pursue it with all you got.

Raising Cane’s property sells for $5 in Murrieta
A Murrieta property leased to Raising Cane’s recently traded hands for $5 million, according to the brokerage Marcus & Millichap.
“Within 18 hours of marketing the property for sale, we sourced a repeat, all-cash buyer…” said Blake Davey, at Marcus & Millichap’s Orange County office. “This marks our ninth successful transaction within The Vineyard Center, a Costco-anchored center on Clinton Keith Road and I-215.”
The seller was Lambda Investments. The brokerage did not identify the buyer.
Completed this year, the property sold with a 15-year absolute triple-net lease with Raising Cane’s.
Murrieta city manager retiring at year’s end
Murrieta’s City Manager Kim Summers is retiring at the end of the year.
The city said she officially steps down Jan. 10 and beforehand will help the city select her replacement. Her last city council meeting will be Nov. 19.
“Murrieta, thank you for allowing me to serve as your city manager; it has been the adventure of a lifetime,” Summers said in a statement.
With 25 years in local government, Summers came to Murrieta as the assistant city manager in 2014. She was appointed city manager in 2017.
Summers also served as deputy city manager and public information officer in the Hesperia from 1999-2014.
Velto new president at MGR Real Estate
Bill Velto, a longtime resident and the current mayor of Upland, is the new president of MGR Real Estate Inc. in Ontario.
He has been with MGR since October 2023, serving as general manager.
“With his rich experience in real estate sales, marketing, training, and development, Bill Velto is exceptionally well-suited to lead our company,” said Michael G. Rademaker, MGR CEO and founder, in a statement.
Rademaker said Velto’s experience made him the perfect choice as the firm expands throughout Southern California, into Arizona, and Nevada.
Stater Bros., Dr Pepper give $30K to help rebuild snack bar
Stater Bros. Charities and Dr Pepper recently gave $30,000 donation to the Citrus Little League to help it rebuild its snack bar, which burned in a burglary in Rancho Cucamonga.
The snack bar at Red Hill Community Park was damaged when it was set afire in early May.
The site also served as a storage area for equipment, merchandise, and other items that were lost in the fire. The league estimates it will cost between $70,000 and $100,000 to repair.

Crestline resident Rick Dever recently was appointed to the Lahontan Regional Water Quality Control Board. He has been general manager of the Crestline Sanitation District since 2017. This position requires Senate confirmation. Compensation is $250 per diem. Dever is a Republican.
